STRAWBERRY AND BLUEBERRY PARFAIT

The truth is that most granola parfaits are usually the same using either yogurt, cream or milk however, I decided to take the recipe a little bit further out of the box and give a special tweak. Well, what I did was to substitute the usual cream, yoghurt and milk with homemade strawberries and blueberries smoothie.  Making this type of smoothie is one of the easiest but yet a healthier recipe you can think of.

So because the parfait recipes are usually the same, I was moved to make something unique and new but yet super simple. Much as I enjoyed this strawberry and blueberry granola parfait, I do believe that it will pretty well suit your taste as well. So whipping up a batch of fresh strawberries, blueberries and a little portion of natural yogurt in a food processor or blender for a quick morning breakfast was just a breeze. I am of the notion that simple is always the best and will ever remain the best.

Interestingly, this is also applicable in virtually every aspect of life!!! Keep it simple and it will be easily appreciated!!! Since the concept of simplicity is applicable in every facets of life, then here I am, discussing simplicity as it pertains to food.

And on this instance, food recipes should also be made simple but yet delicious and healthy except for those really tedious recipes that definitely require difficult steps. But notwithstanding, it is always wise to go for simple but yet magical dishes that are packed with nutritious and flavourful ingredients.

Well, let me just reiterate that this strawberry and blueberry granola parfait is an example of such simple satisfaction. The parfait might not exactly look the way you want it, probably because I tweaked it but I can assure you that the components all paired up perfectly well together to transform into a simple but yet satisfying quickie breakfast. This parfait is packed with flavor and also makes a perfect dessert.

I have a weak point with anything strawberry. Infact, strawberry is among my list of favorite fruits due to its flavourful tangy taste, colourful appearance and texture but yet it baffles me why certain people keeps saying that they do not like strawberries - Possibly, one man’s food is another man’s poison!

But funny enough, each time someone tells me that he/she dislikes strawberry, my instant response is  “guy or babe, it’s obvious that you probably have not tasted some really good flavourful strawberries". This is true because strawberries are super flavourful but unfortunately, there are some really sour ones out there that usually puts most people off.

But I urge you to always go for the really good ones and  you will want to eat strawberries more frequently. Strawberry taste depends greatly on its ripening season,  flavor, size, shape and colour. Apart from using fresh strawberries for this recipe, frozen ones can as well be used. Strawberry is an excellent source of vitamin C, dietary fibre, potassium, thiamine, flavonoids, potassium, folic acid, vitamin K, manganese  and iron. Medicinally, strawberry aids in food digestion and helps to prevent digestive ailments due to its high dietary fiber content.

Moreover, the fructose content of strawberry helps to stabilize the blood sugar levels. Strawberry contains a powerful antioxidant known as anthocyanin, which is a red flavonoid pigment found in plants and this causes the dazzling red colour of this fruit. Interestingly, studies reveal that this antioxidant helps to protect our body from cardiovascular diseases, cancer and inflammation.

But moving on, I am an admirer of this great breakfast parfait because it is super refreshing, simple, tasteful and I label it as an outstanding way of starting off the day on a good pedestal. Aside the quality of this parfait, I also admire the beautiful colour and appearance. So tempting and captivating!!!

I blended up my blueberries, strawberries and yogurt quite well because I don't like lumps and it sort of combined very well with the granola leaving behind a perfect combination of sweetness and flavour to blend with the entire ingredients. But I did not blend all the strawberries and blueberries. The remaining strawberries were sliced and used to top the parfait with the blueberries and I can assure you that that was a brilliant accompaniment to the smoothie and other granola beneath them for a really delicious treat.

The more I scooped through this parfait, the more I cherished every bit of it. My only lucky escape was that I had quite a plenty of blueberries and strawberries in the kitchen and every other things followed.

Moving over to the granola, I can assure you that this sort of honey rolled oats with nuts is a perfect and highly recommended breakfast option for every household.
